been a while

hey all

its been quite some time since I've posted anything on this blog, relating to the circusninja collective, the bin, or anything else for that matter..

thanks to all of you who've been hitting it up.

Well The Bin closed its doors on the 31st August 2007. It was an unfortunate end to an incredible space and I want to thank you all for being a part of it - even if the first time you're hitting it up is right now. There are no movements with The Bin at the moment, although the thought of re-opening at some point will always be in the back of my mind.

Circusninja has also been quite since The Bin Closed doors, but we're up to some exciting stuff at the moment which I'll release more info about soon...

best spot to find us is by joining our facebook group -

beyond that I'm now working for an exciting live music and entertainment venue called The Assembly which you can check out here -

till the next post.

New books just unpacked!

We've just un-packed 4 great new titles.

as always with The Bin, stock is limited so act fast.

Low Fat : R550

The evolution of vector motion graphics is an amazing story. It gained prominence in the printing industry around five years ago when vector-based graphics were used by designers for the tracing of photographs, a process that gave images a fresh new look. Later, on the world-wide web, people were astonished by vector-based scalable animation created using Macromedia Flash. This book features the work of over 50 vector graphic designers from around the world.

I Love Games Graphics: R450

The video game explosion of the 1980's gave birth to the ''Nintendo generation'' and since then it has had a profound, continuous and far-reaching influence on youth culture. The authors of I Love Games are members of the Nintendo Generation. They grew up with the video game phenomenon and have developed a deep understanding of how this particular aspect of their childhood has impacted and enriched their lives as designers. I Love Games Graphics presents a nostalgic journey through the visual world of games from its early beginnings up until today. I Love Game Graphics also explores the roots of the games industry in Japan, its worldwide dissemination and the relationship between games culture and techno music.

Sticker Graphics 2: R490

A treasure trove of offerings from top sticker artists around the world. Candy-colored box contains a 240-page book, 63 real stickers, 2 patches, a poster, and a DVD.

Special Effects: R475

Seeing may be believing but when it comes to the printed object the process extends further to encompass touching, feeling and visually experiencing. From the humble promotional flyer to deluxe hardcover books, special printing effects of all kinds are used to create a variety of expressions that will deliver a unique look and feel that extends way beyond standard printing paper. Special Effects features highly talented artists from around the world and presents their works in a sensitive style that leaves a delicate yet indelible impression. Artists featured include AllRightsReserved, Antoine+Manuel, ARC, Asylum, Atsuki Kikuchi, Build, CAP, Chie Morimoto, Chigusa Hiraki, GALLERY WALL, GRAPH, Hung Lam, Happypets, Jekyll + Hyde, Hideki Nakajima, Kazuhide Abe, Kazunari Hattori, Kenji Ito, Masaru, Ishiura, milkshake, mina perhonen, mint designs, Morning Manga Magazine, Naomi Hirabayashi, Ryosuke Uehara, Shin Sobue, Sign, Stanley Wong, Stefan Sagmeister, Surface to Air Paris, TLGF, WERK, Yoshie Watanabe, Yukimasa Matsuda

The Bin

The Bin opens Permenaant Gallery on 17th May 07

On the 17th of May 2007 The Bin will open our newest art project – PERMENAANT. A non show based gallery that aims to showcase a variety of works from the deep pool of South African Talent.

Permenaant will not focus on exhibition openings but rather be a space for artists to hang works on a permanent basis.

Works will be for sale in the space.

The gallery will be open with the same hours as The Bin.

Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm
Saturdays – 10:30am – 3pm
Select Sundays – 11am – 4pm

The gallery will hang a maximum of 3 works from any given artist. Unsold works from exhibitions will, from time to time move into the Permenaant space, and will be marked up slightly higher than the show price (this is to avoid people waiting till after shows to buy work and create added value to the work whilst it is on show)

Permenaant rises from a discontent with the increasing use of art as a commodity rather than a medium of expression and aims to contribute towards the re-balancing of art as product / art as expression.

Our hope is to provide a space for artists that may produce small amounts of work over long periods and who are not looking for short term exhibitions.

We are pushing out an open call for artists to provide us with works for the gallery space.

For further information, and/or to set-up an appointment where we’ll be able to view your works and discuss the pro’s and cons of our new space, please contact.
